What we do

Premonto watches the weather, the soil and the season for each field on your farm. When frost, heat, a dry spell or a pest is on its way, it sends an early warning and suggests what can be done.

A year of messages

What Premonto might send over a single year.

Premonto speaks your language. Messages arrive on WhatsApp or as a text message. Phone calls are there for any farmer who wants to listen and talk through their recommendations.

March

Example message
Frost likely before dawn on Thursday in the lower orchard, where the apricot and almond trees are in blossom. If you have frost protection, plan to use it on Wednesday night. We will send an update on Wednesday at 18:00.

A warning is a prompt to go and look at your field. It cannot promise what the weather will do.

Forewarnings

Every farm that uses Premonto gets warnings for the hazards that matter to its crops: late frost, heatwaves, dry spells, heavy rain and pests. Each one comes with a suggestion and an honest note of how sure we are.

It keeps a record of your farm every season, continually learning and building from it, so its warnings can match your fields more closely over time.

Towards polyculture

For farmers who want it, Premonto shows what is known about growing more crops side by side: which mixes and rotations have been tried in conditions like yours, what they cost to set up and which EU schemes help pay for them. The choice is yours.

More crops, more ways for a year to go well.

Yet mixed farms are disappearing. The EU lost 2.6 million of them between 2005 and 2020, according to Eurostat. We want to reverse this decline as we believe that the small, mixed farm is the strongest security for our future.
